Kansas State is looking for an individual skilled at balancing stakeholder expectations, who values differences, drives engagement, and is organizationally savvy to direct and lead our Communications Solutions team. You will:
direct public issues management, risk and crisis communication, strategic communication, media relations, marketing communications, educational media production, and news distribution about activities of the College of Agriculture, Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Kansas Cooperative Extension Service.
supervise and evaluate professional communication staff.
administer unit budget.
participate in university, organizational and departmental functions.
provide communication counsel to college administrators.
This position reports to the Department Head of Communications and Agricultural Education.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, business administration, marketing, management, or related field.
Five years experience managing, directing, or leading teams and individuals.
Master's degree in communications field.
Professional communications experience including personnel management and strategic or integrated communication.
Critical thinking, time management, and interpersonal skills applied to leading and directing others.
Ability to think strategically and develop implementation plans with strong follow-through and measurable results.
Experience in university environment, preferably a land-grant university.
Knowledge of current agricultural practices and the land grant mission.
Familiarity with digital business and communication platforms.
Experience with multi-platform communications, including video production and editing; audio production and editing; photography; desktop publishing using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with social media tools, web design, blogging platforms, data reporting tools, analytics, keyword searching and search engine optimization (SEO).
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and English language skills are required.
