Digital Media Specialist – Science Museum Oklahoma, Inc

he Digital Media Specialist works with the Communications Department to implement the strategy for all Science Museum Oklahoma communications efforts to consistently articulate SMO’s mission, promote its programs, and strengthen its brand identity across key stakeholder audiences. Essential Functions

  • Works with Communications Director to support the Museum’s marketing and fundraising efforts.

  • Primarily responsible for developing dynamic strategies and content for the Museum’s social media channels.

  • Monitors the museum’s online presence and reputation, responding when appropriate or referring for action as needed.

  • Produces print and web content for public consumption including the museum’s website, social media and newsletters.

  • Assists with responding to media, guest and fundraising inquiries in a timely manner. Serves as secondary media and fundraising contact as needed.

  • Provides copywriting and editing support as needed for projects ranging from exhibit copy to fundraising materials.

  • Maintains departmental editorial and fundraising calendars.

  • Provides assistance planning and executing museum events.

  • Maintains accurate and complete departmental databases and files.

  • Works cross-departmentally to develop and execute projects and assignments that are completed on schedule with the highest quality and efficiency.

  • Responsible for collecting and reporting on analytics and current trends.

  • Maintains positive, collaborative relationships with all departments.

  • Other duties as required.

* Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.

  • At least three years of professional social media experience.

  • Advanced writing and editing skills, including persuasive writing skills

  • Experience in SEO, GoogleAds is preferred

  • Availability: Regular business hours (Monday-Friday). Occasional evenings, weekends, and early mornings will be required for special events and media coverage.
