About the Role

Join a team of highly qualified communicators who have expertise in animal science, business operations, public policy, youth development and marketing. In this role, you will lead content creation and serve as the organization’s voice on today’s popular social media platforms. Plus, you will have the opportunity to assist your Oklahoma Pork Council teammates with event planning, philanthropy, membership engagements and sponsor relations.


General Responsibilities and Job Summary

Content Creation

  • Uses creative tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite to turn ideas into compelling narratives incorporating the established Oklahoma Pork Council brand voice and identity.

  • Leads graphic design of digital assets, brand campaigns, infographics, motion graphics and other materials featuring the Oklahoma pork industry for use across Oklahoma Pork Council platforms.

  • Tells stories through images captured at events, on farms and of people.

  • Shoots and edits video content from video shorts for reels and digital advertising to long-form Oklahoma pork industry image campaign videos.

  • Drafts copy, proofreads and supports storytelling efforts aligning with the organization’s strategic intention pillars and key messages, as well as relevant events/holidays and timely pork industry activities.

  • Performs feature and technical writing duties.

Social Media

  • Uses extensive knowledge of the popular social media channels to develop and deploy a multi-platform strategy.

  • Creates unique written and visual content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, “X” formerly Twitter, TikTok and emerging social networks.

  • Schedules posts according to the organization’s social media content calendar, monitors content performance across Oklahoma Pork Council social media channels and leads real-time engagement with social media followers.

  • Sets annual social media goals and implements a paid social media plan.

  • Compiles monthly social media performance reports for the Oklahoma Pork Council team and board.

  • Follows current and emerging social media trends to evolve the organization’s social media strategy.

Other Key Communication Functions:

  • Participates in organization-wide content planning and deploys digital media strategies sharing Oklahoma Pork’s story across multiple platforms to multiple audiences.

  • Actively communicates the organization’s giving and donation impacts across Oklahoma Pork Council’s consumer-focused platforms.

  • Spearheads the production of the annual Oklahoma Pork Pages magazine including mapping out the editorial outline, copywriting, graphic design and print production.

  • Acts as the okpork.org website lead including ongoing written and visual updates, generating timely blog content, updating events pages, creating campaign landing pages, ensuring content follows SEO best practices and providing monthly website analytics.

  • Monitors media, blogs and other news platforms for stories relating to the Oklahoma pork industry.

  • Supports Oklahoma Pork Council team members with communications tactics including printed mailings, news releases, sponsorship campaigns, event promotions, media response, etc.

  • Works with communications professionals, freelancers and agency partners to complete projects on an as-needed basis.

  • Regularly engages with communications staff at the National Pork Board and National Pork Producers Council including attendance of national meetings.

  • Works cross-functionally to support all tasks of the Oklahoma Pork Council and performs other duties as assigned.
