Job Description
Texas A&M AgriLife is seeking a dynamic, creative, and strategic writer and content creator to join our Marketing and Communications team. This position is responsible for crafting compelling stories that showcase the impact and importance of our agricultural research, education, and outreach efforts. As a steward of the Texas A&M AgriLife brand, this communications specialist II will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining our organization's image.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Develop high-quality written content, including articles, blog posts, press releases, newsletters, email communications and other materials, to promote the mission, research and activities of Texas A&M AgriLife.
Storytelling: Create engaging narratives that highlight the achievements, innovations and impact of Texas A&M AgriLife's work in agriculture, natural resources and life sciences.
Brand Stewardship: Ensure all written content aligns with the Texas A&M AgriLife brand guidelines, maintaining consistency in tone, messaging and visual identity.
Research and Interviews: Conduct research and interviews with subject matter experts, faculty, researchers and stakeholders to gather information and insights for compelling content creation.
Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, including graphic designers, photographers, videographers and marketing professionals, to assist in the production multimedia content that tells a cohesive and engaging story.
Content Strategy: Contribute to the development of a digital content strategy that supports the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring that content is relevant and resonates with the target audience.
Audience Engagement: Monitor and analyze the performance of your created content across various platforms and channels, adjusting strategies as needed to improve audience engagement and reach.
Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit content for accuracy, messaging, grammar and style, maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
Crisis Communication: Assist in developing crisis communication plans and crafting appropriate messaging when necessary.
Stay Current: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies within your area of support in AgriLife as well as within content creation and marketing.

Required Education and Experience: -Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Preferred Experience:
- Working understanding and/or willingness to learn Salesforce Marketing Cloud. - Strong understanding of the role of SEO and best practices in digital content. - Knowledge of agricultural or scientific topics is a plus.
