Communications Specialist I – Texas A&M Agrilife Extension

The Communications Specialist I, under general supervision, coordinates with the communications team to write, edit and assist in the creation of informational, feature and technical articles to disseminate water research, results and programs, and other communications project deliverables for the Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI). Conducting interviews, writing articles and updating content are the main responsibilities for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

- Works with the team to determine article needs for Texas Water Resources Institute (TWRI).

- Follows traditional journalistic standards of creating accurate, objective articles to communicate water resources issues and research in the state.

- Writes content for annual reports, news releases, feature articles, newsletters, websites and social media.

- Assists the team with planning, scheduling and tracking communications for monthly email-newsletter, magazine, social media, news releases, website content and any other communications project deliverables.

- Develops, writes, edits and distributes txH2O magazine, monthly email-newsletter, news releases, project and educational fact sheets, flyers, technical reports and other products regarding work being done by the institute and other water resources research and education projects in the state.

- Drafts and edits news releases.

- Assists in monitoring key social media activities and participates proactively in dialog benefitting the institute and Texas A&M AgriLife.

- Assists with managing institute mailing lists and mailings.

- Other duties as assigned.
