Communications Manager – Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment

RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), a trade association located in Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time Manager of Communications.  The Manager of Communications will oversee and execute all general marketing, RISE membership communications, association social media accounts, association website and other electronic communication technology, and special projects and events.  The Manager will be expected to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners, RISE teammates, and association members.  The Manager reports to the President.


  • Oversee all aspects of membership marketing and communications efforts in support of membership growth, maximizing event attendance, as well as supporting any other RISE programs and activities to maximize visibility and impact (including, but not limited to, website, newsletter, annual report, member alerts, and grassroots calls-to-action).

  • Serve as editor, coordinator, writer, and distributor of content for members and stakeholders for bimonthly e-newsletter (RISE Matters) and other alerts and communications, as needed.

  • Create and implement association membership development and retention initiatives, communicating details of member services and programs to the membership, responding to specific inquiries, and keeping the membership abreast of developments and activities.

  • Write website content and maintain the association’s website(s).

  • Serve as project manager on communications initiatives, developing and following project budgets and creative briefs and working with the RISE team and consultants.

  • Manage, curate, and design social media content for association social media channels and work with RISE team to develop and maintain editorial calendar.

  • Monitor trade media channels and create weekly summary reports.

  • Edit a variety of materials including, but not limited to, testimony, comments, talking points, fact sheets, advisories, and presentations for grammar and content.

  • Serves as staff lead on association committees, as needed.

  • Photograph association events for print, digital, and social media posting.

  • Work with Administrative Coordinator to manage member and stakeholder database, maintaining up-to-date distribution lists.

  • Work with Director of State Affairs in the creation and execution of advocacy campaigns via Voter Voice or similar platform.

  • Work with Director of State Affairs to monitor and create content for grassroots tools to support grassroots network and local allied groups.

  • Work with Vice President of Public Affairs on podcast development, implementation, and management.

  • Serve as day-to-day back-up to Vice President of Public Affairs for media inquiries and management of RISE news releases and responses.

  • Work collaboratively with RISE teammates and members.

  • Other duties and projects as required.
