NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association that represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. Founded in 1916, our mission is to grow and enhance American agriculture through policies, partnerships, and public engagement.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The goal of the NASDA communications department is to increase NASDA's visibility and further NASDA's reputation to achieve wide recognition as a nonpartisan, expert voice from agricultural leaders on current and nationwide agricultural and food issues.

The Coordinator, Communications assists NASDA in facilitating strategic public engagement including developing NASDA's brand through social media and website management, graphic design, event branding and promotion and newsletter development. The Coordinator, Communications is also responsible for analyzing NASDA's media activity, social media metrics and the results of communications campaigns.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a communications role.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and prioritization skills. Ability to effectively manage projects in a fast-paced work environment with competing deadlines and priorities.

  • Experience developing content for organizations to achieve desired outcomes in a competitive communications environment

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications or a related field

  • Attendance at occasional meetings outside of the office and in the Washington, DC area.

  • Moderate experience with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
