The Associate Director of Media Relations will work within Oklahoma State University's Department of Brand Management. This individual has primary responsibility for development and implementation of an effective strategic media relations program to enhance and influence the quality, quantity, and tone of media coverage for Oklahoma State University and to ensure OSU experts, scholarship, thought leadership, innovations in higher education, etc. are effectively promoted to various audiences across various communications platforms to enhance and protect the institution's reputation.
The associate director is responsible for developing strategic communications plans as well as proactive and reactive media relations strategies. This role is entrusted with confidential and sensitive material and exercises independent judgment.
This position must have an understanding of current strategic communications, marketing and outreach strategies and an adaptable writing style for various audiences. The individual should be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects and content calendars. Additionally, this individual must be adept at working with individuals at various roles and leadership levels, collecting feedback and improving communications based on information received. The individual should demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase Oklahoma State University. These efforts align with OSU's strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management.
